"Writers Talk" Continues with Robert Long and Martin Tucker

Southampton, NY - Southampton College continues its "Writers Talk" series of literary lectures with East Hampton poet Robert Long on Thursday, September 28. Following him will be poet, writer and literary magazine editor Martin Tucker on Thursday, October 5.

Sponsored by Southampton College's MFA in Writing Program, both events are at 7 p.m. in Duke Lecture Hall. Admission is free and open to the public. Call (631) 287-8424 for more information.

Long's poems have appeared in dozens of magazines and anthologies, including The New Yorker, Poetry and Partisan Review. He has taught at several colleges and universities, including LaSalle University, where he was writer-in-residence. His latest book of verse is "Blue" (Canio's Editions, 1999).

Dr. Tucker is the editor of the award-winning literary magazine Confrontation, which has won a Pushcart Prize and an O'Henry Best Stories of the Year Award. An English professor at Long Island University, he is the author of several literary studies and the editor of more than 20 volumes of literary encyclopedia as well as two collections of his poetry. Recent publications include a review-essay in American Book Review and three poems in Sarasota Review of Poetry. His most recent book of poetry is "Attention Spans" (Potpourri Publications, 1997).
