Fax: (631) 283 4081Broadway composer and lyricist Richard Adler and his music will be featured in a concert Saturday, August 26 at Southampton College to benefit the Eastern Long Island Coastal Conservation Alliance (ELICCA). The performance begins at 7 p.m. in the Avram Theater in the Fine Arts Center with musicians Colleen Fitzpatrick, Patrick Quinn and Paul Katz. Lee Davis will be master of ceremonies.
Adler, the son of concert pianist, co-composed the music for two hit Broadway shows. The Pajama Game included such favorites as "Hernando's Hideaway," "Hey There" (a number one hit for Rosemary Clooney) and "Small Talk." Damn Yankees rocketed Gwen Verdon to stardom in the original production.
Tickets to the benefit performance are $100, or $150 for two tickets. Light refreshments will be served before the show from 6:30 to 7 p.m.
ELICCA is a not-for-profit corporation, in collaboration with Southampton College of Long Island University, that has undertaken a multi-year project to study the eastern Long Island shoreline and its environs, as it exists now, and has in the past, in order to explore possible solutions to erosion problems and evaluate potential methods of beach restoration. ELICCA has published two booklets, The Hamptons' South Shore: A History of Beach Changes and Storm Impacts, and Beach Basics, a reference guide to the terminology of coastal preservation.
