Southampton, NY - The Southampton Players, a troupe composed of local actors and Southampton College students, will begin its season this fall singing and dancing in Cole Porter's "Anything Goes."

Auditions will be held Monday and Tuesday, September 11-12 at 6 p.m. in Southampton College's Avram Theater. Singers should bring a Cole Porter piece in their key and dancers should bring their tap shoes if possible. For those new to tap or whose skills are rusty, a pre-audition tap workshop will be held Friday, September 8 at 3 p.m. in the Avram Theater. For further information, call director Michael Disher at (631) 287-8088.

Performances will be held November 9-11 and 15-18. In the winter, the Southampton Players will continue the tradition begun last year when several short plays came out of famed cartoonist Jules Feiffer's Humor and Truth class. "InterAct 2001" hopes to again bring the words of MFA in Writing students to life on stage in a series of intertwined comedies. The Spring 2001 production will be "Look Homeward, Angel," a play inspired by Thomas Wolfe's book, winning playwright Ketty Frings a 1958 Pulitzer Prize.

"Anything Goes" has a cast of 26 and all roles are still available. The song and dance extravaganza is a mad-cap musical set in the 1930s aboard the SS America. Memorable songs include the title tune "Anything Goes," "She's De-lovely," "You're the Top," "Friendship" and "Let's Misbehave."
