New Lecture Series: "21st Century Issues" Opens With Roger Rosenblatt

A new Southampton College lecture series will kick off with Roger Rosenblatt. The well known Time magazine essayist, PBS commentator and Southampton College Professor will discuss the good, the bad and the ugly in today's world of writing in a lecture titled "Everyone's a Writer (God Help Us)."

Southampton College's "21st Century Issues" lecture series will be held in the Jewish Center of the Hamptons in East Hampton. All events start at 5 p.m. and are free and open to the public with receptions to follow. Rosenblatt's lecture is on Sunday, July 16. Friends World Dean Lewis Greenstein discusses ?Whither Africa (or Wither Africa)? on Monday, August 14. World-renowned coastal researcher Dr. Stephen Leatherman (a.k.a. As an essayist for Time magazine, Rosenblatt won two George Polk Awards, and awards from the Overseas Press Club and the American Bar Association, among others. His television essays on PBS for the "MacNeil/Lehrer NewsHour" have won him a George Foster Peabody Award and an Emmy. He is the author of six books, including his most recent, "Coming Apart: A Memoir of the Harvard Wars of 1969" (Little, Brown, 1997).
