Other Kinds of Involvement (Guidebooks)
Besides working for Friends World in the capacity of Student Executive or Student Coordinator, there are other ways to take care of those around you, and to give energy to your Learning Community.
Guidebooks, whether as thick as this one or a one-page pamphlet, save people time and energy by using your expertise and research to accomplish tasks or to learn about a topic. Many of the "Inspired and Creative" tips here have been suggestions for various Guidebooks. Guidebooks have been written on many many topics, including Meeting Facilitation, Global Political Economy, the FW Educational Model, Financial Aid, Staying Healthy, and Sing-along books. Every couple of years someone tries to get a book of collected FW recipes, but it is not clear whether any of these were actually published.
There are, of course, lots of other ways to get involved in the evolution of Friends World. Students have tutored, organized files, landscaped and gardened on-campus, facilitated meetings, and raised money by canvassing and organizing benefit concerts.
