Student Executive
The Student Executive is the representative and spokesperson for the student community of Friends World Program, within the program-wide administration. The Student Executive is the voice of students appealing a faculty or Center decision. Her responsibilities include communication, facilitation, mediation, morale-boosting, role-modeling, guardian-angelship, making reports in administrative meetings, maintaining contact with alumni, talking with Southampton College (non FW) students and staff, program development, recruitment, support of other staff and faculty, and much more.
The Student Executive gets to be a superhero, with all the hard work and good karma that comes with such a job.
The Student Executive's job is a full-time position. The pay is not great, but it is certainly survivable. Occasionally Student Executives have gotten part-time jobs to supplement their income.
The Student Executive is usually chosen by polling all students (preferably the previous Spring). Otherwise, the student delegates to the World Conference occasionally make the choice.
It is important to point out right at the beginning that, yes, it is impossible for one person to do all of this and to do it all thoroughly and well. Every Student Executive focuses on some aspects of the job over others; every Student Executive has stronger and weaker points.
Here is a typical description of the Student Executive's job (it may vary slightly from year to year).

- If you are panicking because of some other person who is Student Executive, talk with other students and faculty at your Center about it, especially those who have been around FW for a while.
