Student Coordinators
The Student Coordinator(s) are chosen by the student community at each Center at the beginning of the year or semester, and as needed otherwise. Although the focus of the Student Coordinator's role varies slightly from Center to Center, generally the following hold true. The Student Coordinator:
- convenes and attends Community Meetings
- facilitates the production of at least one Center Newsletter per semester, or delegates this to other volunteers.
- keeps students informed of Center news as well as news from World Headquarters
- is a member of the Regional Council, which is the decision-making body at the Center level, analogous to the World Council's role on the Program-wide level.
- represents the position of the student community at Regional Council meetings.
- usually has access to those Center facilities needed to perform these tasks
- may receive academic credit for her work, if she works it out with her faculty advisor and includes it in her Learning Plan
- ideally should get some kind of compensation like tuition remission, although up to this time, the school has not been able to budget for this.
Often, more than one student is chosen as Coordinator; the team of Coordinators then either shares or divides the responsibilities between them.
