How to Use This
This document has a table of contents, so you can peruse the general layout of everything; it has an index, so you can look up topics that interest you; and if you get lost, just go back to the front page. These three links are the bottom of every page except the front page (which has its own links).
The bottom of each page also has a link to the HTML form for submitting your own input for the Portfolio Resource Guidebook. If there is a topic that isn't included, or one that needs your ideas or issues, or simply a typo or other error somewhere, this is the way to let the editor know. For more information on continuing the evolution of the Portfolio Resource Guidebook, click here.
Finally, each page also has a link to the main Friends
World Home Page. Just click on the globe.
Basically, just look up whatever is interesting, frustrating, or alien to you. Use the Table of Contents and the Index. First within each topic will come the summarized results of discussions of the various contributing Workshops. Other tips and suggestions will be presented in no particular order. After the explanations and examples the "Workbook" exercises and resources will follow, divided into the following categories:
Workshop Discussion Sparks
- Hopefully, one of the results of reading this will be that the reader will be motivated to casually discuss things with friends and colleagues, or even form a formal Program for expanding on this resource-- a Portfolio Workshop.
- Some possible starting points, just to get the ball rolling.
Inspired and Creative
- For the person who says "Oh boy, what a nifty idea, I am inspired! Where do I go from here?"
- Some large-scale projects to really devote yourself to (well, you said you were inspired).
- Maybe get Social Change credits for creating resources for others.
Rigorous Training
- For the person who says, "Good idea, but I don't think I can use it well unless I get some practice first, to get used to it."
- Some practice/praxis, and perhaps some applications in the Portfolio.
AAAAAGGGHHHH!
- For the person who says, "AAAAAGGGHHHH!" and who turned to this Guide and Workbook in total desperation and confusion, and would like some simple, clear, do-able suggestions, preferably in soothing blue lettering like the "DON'T PANIC" sign on the Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy.
- Some of that, unfortunately in black lettering just like the rest.
See Also
- Some pointers to other topics in this Guide and Workbook, as well as other resources. Entries in CAPITAL LINK TEXT are clickable hypertext links to the sections of this Guide, and are followed by the section number of the topic.
It may be helpful, though, to read the tips in all of these categories; the inspired may panic, the panic-stricken need resources, and everyone can benefit from a little discussion and practice.
