Academic honors are awarded at commencement to undergraduates who
have achieved a cumulative grade point average of 3.25 or higher.
Cum laude is awarded for an average of 3.25; magna cum
laude for a 3.55 average, and summa cum laude, 3.85 or
higher. The appropriate Latin script is embossed on the diploma
in recognition of the achievement. On Commencement day students
will be given a gold ribbon signifying Honors, and they will be
recognized in the program and from the platform. Designation of
Honors is based on the Fall '04 cumulative grade point average.
Students must have completed at least 60 hours in residence at Southampton
College in order to graduate with honors.
