March 2005
Dear Graduate,
I am writing to update you on the details of Commencement 2005,
which will take place on Sunday, May 22rd. The schedule of events
for the day begins with a brunch for graduates and their guests
from 9:30 a.m. until 12:00 p.m. Each graduate will be given 3 complimentary
tickets, and additional tickets may be purchased for $7.50 per person,
from now until the morning of commencement. Graduation announcements
are also available. You may pick up the announcements and brunch
tickets in the Provost's Office after April 11th.
The Senior Recognition Ceremony will take place in the Avram Theatre
from 12:15 p.m. until 1:00 p.m. for graduates and their guests.
Speeches and awards for graduates will be presented at this ceremony.
Graduates will begin to form the line of march following the ceremony.
Guests may then proceed to their seats for the ceremony, which
will take place on the West Lawn of Chancellors Hall. An ample supply
of chairs will be available, but feel free to bring blankets or
beach chairs for festival-style seating. Each graduate is entitled
to invite as many guests as they wish; no tickets are necessary.
There are packets of formal commencement announcements in the Provosts
Office. Please feel free to stop by and pick up a packet.
The line of march will begin promptly at 2:00 p.m., and the ceremony
will end at approximately 3:30 p.m. A reception will immediately
follow.
For those with accessibility needs, transportation assistance will
be provided at the east entrance of the Natural Science Building.
Your family member may be dropped off at this location. We recommend
that everyone park in Lot A, which is the large parking area adjacent
to Tuckahoe Road.
Caps and gowns are on sale in the college bookstore and may be
purchased up until Commencement morning. Prices are as follows:
Undergraduate cap, gown & tassel: $33.98
Masters cap, gown & tassel: $37.98
Hood only: $29.98
Congratulations on your achievement, and I look forward to congratulating
you again on Sunday, May 22rd.
Sincerely,
Dr. Daniel J. Rodas
Provost
