To facilitate the
transfer of students from Suffolk County Community College
(SCCC), Southampton Graduate Campus of Long Island University and
SCCC have signed a Joint Admissions Agreement. This
agreement outlines specific course requirements for students
who are enrolled at SCCC and defines their equivalents at
Southampton Graduate Campus of LIU.
As a student at
SCCC, you can follow the Joint Admissions Agreement program
to plot out your course of study as you plan to transfer to
Southampton.
Purpose of the
Joint Admission Agreement
The Joint Admissions
Agreement provides an opportunity for students who are admitted
to Suffolk County Community College (SCCC) to also be granted
admission to Southampton Graduate Campus of Long Island University.
Eligible students must have an Associates degree from Suffolk
Community College to continue their education at Southampton
College. Students entering Southampton Graduate Campus’s Teacher
Education Programs will be required to have a 2.75 overall
cumulative average from SCCC. Students entering Southampton
College’s Art Programs may be required to submit a portfolio
of work for review prior to placement in art courses at Southampton.
As part of the
Joint Admissions Agreement, eligible students have the opportunity
to enter one of over fifty Bachelor degree programs available
at Southampton Graduate Campus. Students have the option of
selecting one of the following degree programs and must meet
any of the specific requirements of that program as outlined
in separate articulation agreement(s) between Southampton
College and Suffolk County Community College.

College library, computer laboratories and athletic facilities.
Scholarships
for Suffolk County Community College Students
Academic Excellence
Award:
Full-time dual-enrolled
students with a minimum 3.0 cumulative grade point average
may qualify for this award upon entering Southampton Graduate Campus.
The Academic Excellence Award may be granted in any amount
up to $9,000 per year and may be renewable for up to 3 years
if the student maintains a 3.0 cumulative average at Southampton
College.
Suffolk County
Grant:
To be considered,
students must show residency in Suffolk County. Up to
$4,000 based on merit or need.
Alumni Scholarships:
Student must
be the child of a Southampton Graduate Campus graduate. This
award is up to $2,500 per year and in renewable annually by
maintaining a 3.0 cumulative average.
Sibling Scholarships:
Student must
have a sibling attending Southampton Graduate Campus at the same time.
This award is up to $2,500 per year and is renewable annually
as long as both siblings are enrolled and maintain acceptable
academic performance.
Art Scholarships:
Awarded to transfers
on the basis of a portfolio review. Students must major
in Art. The award is up to $6,000 and is renewable annually
by maintaining a 3.0 cumulative average.
Writing Scholarship:
Awarded to transfers
on the basis of a writing competition. Students must
major in English. The award is up to $6,000 and
is renewable annually by maintaining a 3.0 cumulative average.
Study Grants:
Awarded to full-time
students who demonstrate financial need. The amount
is based on need and availability.
Honors Program:
Full-time students
who complete the honors program at SCCC are encouraged to
continue in the honors program at Southampton Graduate Campus.
Students must complete at least 64 credits at Southampton
College to be awarded a Southampton Graduate Campus Honors Diploma.
Student Eligibility
for the Joint Admissions Program
Students who complete
the Suffolk County Community College application for admission
and indicate an interest in the Joint Admissions program with
Southampton Graduate Campus (by marking the appropriate boxes) are
eligible to participate in the program. Application forms
are available from Suffolk County Community College, Southampton
College and local high school guidance offices.

to SCCC must be first-time matriculated freshmen or…
2. Transfer applicants
to Suffolk County Community College from an accredited institution
who will enter SCCC with fewer than 24 credits of completed
course work or…
3. Currently
matriculated SCCC students who apply to the Joint Admissions
Program prior to the completion of 24 credits of college work
at SCCC.
Suffolk County
Community College and Southampton Graduate Campus of Long Island University
Agree to provide the following:
1. SCCC agrees
to designate appropriate personnel (Admissions, Financial
Assistance, Academic Advising, etc.) to work with Joint Admissions
program students. Southampton Graduate Campus will supplement
this process with appropriate personnel.
2. SCCC and Southampton
College will develop publications pertaining to the Joint
Admissions program. Southampton Graduate Campus will provide appropriate
materials to assist Joint Admissions program students.
In addition
to benefits already described, Southampton Graduate Campus agrees
to provide the following for Associate degree holders at Suffolk
County Community College who are accepted into the Joint Admission
program.
1. Students will
receive periodic information about activities at Southampton
College and about their intended academic area of study. SCCC
students will be encouraged to visit Southampton Graduate Campus to
tour the campus, attend academic, cultural and athletic events,
participate in orientation activities, and to meet on an individual
basis with their academic advisor.
2. Southampton
College enrollment and tuition fee information will be provided
to students on a regular basis.
3. Southampton
College agrees to provide, as needed, information sessions
with appropriate SCCC faculty and staff who will be involved
in consulting and advising students enrolled in the Joint
Admissions program.
4. Southampton
College will provide to SCCC reports on the academic progress
of SCCC graduates who continue their studies at Southampton
College under the terms of the Joint Admissions program.
Suffolk Community
College agrees to the following:
1. SCCC will
be responsible for the selection of candidates to the Joint
Admissions program. Applications will be evaluated according
to the criteria in effect at Suffolk Community College.
2. During late
October and February of each year, SCCC will provide Southampton
College with a list of all new and returning students participating
in the Joint Admissions program. On all other occasions when
SCCC sends student information, student consent must first
be secured. At this time, SCCC will also provide a list
of those Joint Admissions students scheduled to graduate at
the end of the semester who have indicated their intent to
attend Southampton Graduate Campus. Students will be encouraged
to provide Southampton Graduate Campus with official copies of their
current and final SCCC transcripts.
3. SCCC will
facilitate an advising role with Southampton Graduate Campus faculty/staff
for the Joint Admissions program.
4. SCCC will
assist in communicating information on an on-going basis to
students accepted into the program.
Articulation
for Transfer Students Not Participating in Joint Admission
Procedures outlined
herein relate specifically to Southampton Graduate Campus students
who simultaneously apply to SCCC and Southampton Graduate Campus.
Some students upon applying to Suffolk may not have decided
upon their ultimate educational objective or transfer destination.
During the course of their study at SCCC, they made decide
to transfer to Southampton Graduate Campus.
It is understood
that students not covered by the Joint Admissions Agreement
can apply to Southampton Graduate Campus for admission in the usual
manner.
