Long Island University at Riverhead offers Graduate Education master’s degrees in Childhood Education, Teaching Students with Disabilities, Literacy Education and certification in Childhood Education 1-6.

Major strengths of the programs are our excellent faculty, extensive field placement opportunities, flexible course offerings, and expert advising. Many of our students comment that their greatest benefits are derived from the diverse backgrounds of their classmates, many of whom are currently employed as professional teachers. The networking experience within the classroom is ideal, as many of our professors are administrators and principals in desirable school districts.

Students are expected to have earned a 2.75 cumulative grade point average, or higher, in their undergraduate work. Graduate Education students must show evidence of having taken the Liberal Arts and Sciences Test (L.A.S.T.) prior to entry into the graduate program. This is one of the New York State Certification Examinations. In some instances students with exemplary undergraduate academic backgrounds who are registered to take the exam may begin coursework as degree-seeking students before the exam date.
