Costa Rica Dolphin
Study
Southampton College is engaged in an on-going collaborative
effort with the Talamanca Dolphin Foundation in Costa Rica to
document the social behaviors of a group of tucuxi dolphins
found off the east coast. In January Psychobiology Professor
Paul Forestell takes a group of his students to Costa Rica to
participate in the study and build upon data collected in previous
years. Little is known about tucuxi dolphins, and the study is
aimed at developing guidelines for approaching both tucuxi and
bottlenose dolphins without interfering with their habitat.
