Beginning Computers

Intro to Computers

Start Here! This class is intended for students with little or no prior computer experience. Through a combination of lecture and hands-on labs, you will be introduced to the personal computer components and how they work. Other topics to be covered include an introduction to the MS Windows operating system, purchasing and installing software, and computer files and data storage. Computer networks, e-mail and the Internet will be introduced. Information on buying a computer will also be covered.

Intuitive Mac

Learn the Macintosh from the ground up. This introductory course will demonstrate the use of menu items present in almost every Macintosh program. Also included is an introduction to word processing and an overview of today's computerized office. Approach new software with a foundation of confidence.

Microsoft Office

Microsoft Word

Learn how to use America's number one Word Processor. Chances are if you have a computer it is running Microsoft Word. Word can create almost any kind of document that you can imagine. Including letters, envelopes, flyers and brochures. This class will examine the various skills required to master Word such as formatting, editing, printing and saving. Don't start writing without it!

Excel I

Increase your productivity and efficiency at work with this widely used spreadsheet program. Set up worksheets, organize your data, and create professional quality charts and reports. Keystrokes from Word work in Excel. This allows the user to embed financial data in written documents that can be linked to automatically update the text as supplemental data is entered. Knowledge of keyboard and mouse required.

Microsoft PowerPoint

Need a program to help you create effective presentations and slides? PowerPoint is designed to do just that. This course teaches you to create business presentations that will communicate your message more effectively using illustrations, charts and graphs. Students should bring a 100 MB PC formatted Zip disk to class.

Introduction to Microsoft Access

Need to organize something? Your CDs, mailing lists, recipes, stamp collection … your life? This is a good place to start. MS-Access allows you to create a database that serves as a repository for all your information needs. You will learn a little bit about designing a database, creating database tables, queries to view your data, forms to enter your data, reports and more. By the end of this class, you’ll have a great idea of what Access can do and what you can do with Access.

Bring a 100MB Zip Disk to class so you can save your creations. If you have something that you want to create a database for, bring your idea to class and you can start to work on it.

Intuit QuickBooks

Computerize your business with QuickBooks accounting software, which enables you to perform basic functions, including check writing, invoicing, vendor invoice data entry and payroll. Keep track of accounts receivable and accounts payable. Produce professional reports and spreadsheets. Knowledge of Microsoft Windows required.

Advanced QuickBooks

QuickBooks users can benefit from more in-depth study of this popular bookkeeping program. Learn shortcuts and timesaving techniques to improve your financial data. Enrollees in this course must have a working knowledge of QuickBooks.
